Bud Clark --Trial and Appellate Attorney

About Bud Clark

His friends, family and colleagues call him “Bud”, and he prefers it that way. They describe him as  practical and approachable, but also as a knowledgeable, professional and an experienced trial and appellate attorney. The majority of his practice involves litigation and appeals  in state and federal courts throughout Maryland. Those cases involve issues in contracts; business matters, including employment agreements, and company or shareholder disputes; real estate transactions; land use and zoning matters; and development cases. Bud’s four years of service on the Baltimore County Board of Appeals provided him a working knowledge of local government and experience in deciding complicated cases which now allows him to understand what persuades others to make judgments as to factual and legal issues. Many call him a “lawyer’s lawyer”. He enjoys an AV  Preeminent Peer Review rating with Martindale -Hubbell.
Bud has been selected by his peer for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the practice areas of Litigation -Land Use & Zoning.  http://bestlawyers.com

In recognition of his active participation and his leadership abilities, The  Baltimore County Bar Association elected him, for ten consecutive years, to serve on its Executive Council. In 2009, it elected him President of the BCBA. He now serves as President of the Baltimore County Bar Foundation. In 2010, members of the Maryland State Bar Association elected him to serve on its Board of Governors.
Giving back to the community rounds out the public persona of Bud Clark. Active in the Greater Towson Committee, he served as its President in 2005 and 2006. In 2011, he was elected President of Tomorrow’s Towson. Both organizations are dedicated to the revitalization and redevelopment of Towson, the seat of the Baltimore County Government, and Bud’s adopted home town.
Bud graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. degree in 1970. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1975, and was admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland the same year. The U.S. District Court for Maryland admitted him in 1978. He became a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court in 2009.

Social Media Pages as Evidence

Have you considered the fact that what you post on a social media site may be introduced in a trial? Increasingly, trial lawyers investigate parties and witnesses to see if they have a social media page, and what , if anything , stated there might be relevant evidence to help decide an issue in a case. Frequently, family law disputes seek such evidence for there may be documented or suggested behavior that might lead one to believe a party will not be a fit person to have custody of a child.…See More

Refinement of Wrongful Discharge Requirements

Can an at-will employee be lawfully discharged as a result of her complaints about the employer's allegedly unlawful marketing activities? An employee claimed in a lawsuit that her pharmaceutical company employer fired her in retaliation for her very detailed complaints to her superiors that the company failed to disclose to the Food & Drug Administration certain harmful side effects of a prescription drug the employee marketed for the company. The Maryland Court of Appeals recently…
