Howard L. Alderman, Jr. began practicing with the Firm in 1986 after leaving the State of Maryland Office of Environmental Programs where, among other duties, he sat as an appellate hearing examiner on regulatory actions taken by that agency or local environmental offices. He received a B.S. degree in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson State University (cum laude), his M.S. degree from Johns Hopkins University in Urban Planning and has worked as a planner in several local and metropolitan agencies. Upon being admitted to the Maryland Bar after receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law, his practice has been concentrated in the representation, at all administrative and judicial levels, of property owners, builders and developers in the areas of planning, zoning, land use and development law, including administrative/quasi-judicial hearings/trials, and appellate representation on land use/zoning and development matters.

Other areas of his practice include real estate, business formation, and various levels of administrative and appellate practice. Mr. Alderman has combined the lobbying of county, state and municipal elected officials as part of his practice to ensure complete client representation. He is also among a select group of attorneys on the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies established by the National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Alderman has been admitted to practice before all Maryland state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and is a member of the Baltimore County, Maryland State, and the American Bar Associations. Mr. Alderman has served as the Firm's Managing Principal since 1998.
